Self-Amused (2025) Experimental AI Short
"What began as a test for making an mirror infinity tunnel with Sora version 1 turned into a self-reflexive segway into computer devices and the feeling of a dark daydream. "
When I make these AI videos, I am really just taking a ride to see the logic of the AI model. Since I work with mirrors physically and virtually in my art, I wanted to see how Sora would handle a person standing in front of an infinite tunnel generated by glass mirrors.
An unconvincing tunnel effect was produced. For no known reason SORA generated a tablet and laptop in two different clip versions. I keep generating these moments progress with no prompt. I let the post-production process express my reaction to this odd internal focus on technology by technology, and a smiling woman who seems to do nothing but smile and laugh.
I later added sound clips from a stock sound CD library, AI sound made with Stable Audio, and song from musician and friend Cultural Critic (John Malmborg).
